17 “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” national anthem songbirds now need your votes

Learning “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” in a very short time was what the 17 contestants had to do until Instagram submissions closed yesterday evening by 11:59.

One by one, the fever of a revamped “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” national anthem has trickled down to 17 final contestants whose near-perfect but also creative rendition of the symbolic tune has been gaining attention online.

These contestants participate in the “Nigeria, We Hail TheeOut Loud! Recital Meiza Nigeria launched on Sunday 2 June, 2024. Before the anthem was reintroduced last week, the last time it aired at a public event of national significance was in 1978 when Olusegun Obasanjo was a military Head of State.

General Obasanjo thought the country needed a newer composition, “Arise, O’ Compatriots“, at the time. That’s what every millennial, Gen Zer or iGen had known until President Bola Tinubu signed it into law on 29 May, the day he clocked a year in office, that every citizen should return to the beginning marked by the country’s independence from Britain.

From now until 12 June Democracy Day when the winners will be announced, these innovative and courageous songbirds will need votes and engagements to get all the perks that come with their efforts.

The top three contestants who will get prizes in six days would have been the ones who received the most likes and comments. To find them will be to visit Meiza Nigeria’s Instagram page and track back to 2 June when the competition started.
