About ‘Believe Me’

The lyrics of the song are quite clear as it talks about his love for a simple girl called Anwuil. He talks about his undying love for her and how long he has waited for them to become an item. He reiterates the fact that he would never deceive her and she in turn should not deceive him. He goes on to say that his love for her would be greater than her love for him and he wants to believe his words undoubtedly.

Johnny Drille doesn’t seem to disappoint with his lyrics which are always simple, clean and pleasing to the ears. It reminds some of us of his debut single Wait for Me as his tracks always have a way of tugging at the heartstrings.

The lyrics goes thus:

What have you done to me

I no know oh yeah

What have you done to me

I no know

Believe me

Believe me

Believe me

E gats be you

I need you

I need you for my family

The music video for this love anthem was directed by Perliks definition and was co-written and produced by Don Jazzy. The music video had interesting characters which spiced it up. It had Tomi Ojo, an actress from the Netflix-NIgerian series, Far from Home and the popular actor Wale Ojo. Before the release of the song, videos of Johnny Drille and Tomi Ojo in a loved-up scenario surfaced on social media and this made a lot of speculation about their relationship status. It’s safe to say that this speculation boosted the popularity of the song.

Opinion

Their inclusion of sign language only goes to show our improvement in societal inclusion and it was creativity at its finest. The music video narrated their love story quite well and showed how their love story defeated all odds despite the setbacks and disapprovals. A tale a lot of people might find relatable.

Johnny Drille is known for his creativity and unique songs which are usually melodious to the soul. We are sure that this track would be used for many romantic situations for a very long time.
