A few months ago, the Tecno Phantom V Fold was released and caused quite a stir. For many gadget lovers, it presented an opportunity to be close to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, with less cost. Some others saw it as an attempt by Tecno to imitate Samsung’s innovations. But the Tecno Phantom V Fold is much more than these. In this article, we will explore the features of the Tecno Phantom V Fold by matching it against the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. Let’s get into it.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold is a foldable smartphone that features a large foldable display, allowing users to have a compact smartphone experience when folded and a tablet-like experience when unfolded. The device has a hinge mechanism that enables smooth folding and unfolding of the display. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold comes with a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED foldable display when unfolded, offering a high-resolution viewing experience. When folded, it has a smaller external display measuring 6.2 inches, which allows users to use it as a regular smartphone.

The Tecno Phantom V Fold has an outer display of 6.42-inch AMOLED 1080 x 2550. Thus, the Phantom V Fold wins when it comes to physical dimensions, benefiting from larger interior and exterior displays. It also has a slightly higher resolution on both of these panels, but it’s not likely to make a significant difference to your user experience, in practical terms.

On performance, these two gadgets can be said to be out of this world, but technology wise, can be better. They are also incredibly powerful and capable of multitasking and have high-fidelity gaming.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold is equipped with a powerful processor (at the time of its initial release, it was the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 or the Exynos 2100, depending on the region), offering smooth performance and multitasking capabilities.

Both phones come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage as a minimum, the Tecno can be configured with up to 512GB storage, while the Samsung can have up to 1TB. The 1TB option is extremely costly, though, so it is not a very popular choice.

Also, both phones are quite high-end and come with an irresistible camera and picture qualities. Tecno Phantom V Fold’s camera looks much better than that of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold but its features are 50MP main with 13MP for the rear camera, and the front camera possesses 32MP and 16MP interior camera. Samsung, on the other hand, has a 15 MP main and 12MP ultra-wide for the rear camera and its front camera has a 10MP screen camera.

However, in reality, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold has a better camera outlook, captures higher-quality photos and videos in both folded and unfolded modes,  and processes images better. It is also common knowledge that Samsung cameras can last a lifetime.

Lastly, both phones have great battery lives with Tecno Phantom V Fold running on 5000mAh and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold using 4400mAh and running efficiently. Also, Tecno really serves as a cheaper alternative to Samsung, as it costs less.
