He is gearing up for an imminent bid to clinch another Grammy Award, is he? Burna Boy looks ready to go on the new ‘I Told Them’ album – his seventh as far as cataloguing goes. This is expected to drop on Friday, August 25, four days after releasing the complete tracklist.
The listeners already have a taste of what is to come with three interesting singles off the tracklist. ‘Sittin On Top Of The World’ is one and it had American rapper, 21 Savage spitting matching vibes.
And there is the ‘Big 7’ next and its captivating visuals depicting hip-hop legends in the act, Gen Z vibrance, and way too much fun appearing as the eight song on Burna Boy’s tracklist. Alongside the Caribbean islands-based Byron Messia, the singer had also captured ‘Talibans II’, the third track on ‘I Told Them’ that is already out there.
Both artists have enjoyed much attention since the ‘Talibans II’ July 21 respinning came to light. The first version on January 20 only had the Kittian dancehall musician sounding out the vocals. After the rebound with Burna Boy, the pair enjoy Billboard Hot 100 appearances with Messia debuting as the first-timer on this particular chart.
But that is not all of it. There is more to be expected from Burna Boy on this Friday-tied album, including closer to the home scene where he is collaborating with Seyi Vibez on one of the 17 tracks listed. The chemistry going on between Afrobeats and rappers is further explored in the curious joint ‘Thanks’, in which J. Cole’s name is listed on.
What other proof is an audience waiting for before they are ushered into the spiralling thought of intensity – the one that is about to witness yet another showing of Burna Boy’s hefty weight in the global music scene? Only time will tell if he gets to repeat the famous Grammy win of 2021. That which the singer achieved with the ‘Twice As Tall’ album.
