Afrobeat superstar and self-acclaimed African Giant, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy is back with a new single called, Sitting On Top Of The World. The international superstar has been making waves on the internet for successfully selling out an 80,000-capacity stadium in London, United Kingdom. This happened after selling out the 40,000-capacity La Defense Arena in Paris on the 20th of May, 2023.

The Grammy award winner has continued to stay on top of his game since the beginning of 2023 and will be co-headlining the 2023 UEFA Champions League final kick-off show on Saturday, June 10, 2023, alongside Brazilian global pop superstar, Anitta. 

His sixth studio album, Love, Damini which was released in July 2022, became the highest debut of an African album on the Billboard 200 chart and it also became the highest charted African album in the Netherlands, United Kingdom and France. In 2023. He was also ranked number 197 by Rolling Stone, one of the world’s leading publications, on its list of the 200 greatest singers of all time, alongside the legendary Fela Kuti, who ranked 188 on the list. 

About ‘Sitting On Top Of The World’

The song features a sample of Brandy’s 1998 hit single, “Top of the World” featuring Mase. The song goes in line with the unofficial music video released on YouTube which highlights the successes of the singer and clips from the Love, Damini concert alongside his travels and international appearances. In the chorus of the song, Burna Boy talks about providing everything for his lover and that it’s her time because she’s on top of the world. Which can also be translated as being his centre of attention. He also didn’t fail to mention that a lot of people don’t have an idea of the rough patch he’s been through to get to where he is today and that it is time for him to do what he likes.

Burna Boy’s brilliance and versatility when it comes to creating good music is a known fact and his ability to create singles out of unexpected samples is amazing. His combination of Afrobeats and R&B in his single makes him stand out from other artistes. One could only wonder if we should be expecting a project with the popular American singer and household name, Brandy very soon
