Can Bobrisky survive a lawyer-voodoo-priest super force trying to prove he bribed EFCC?

Worthy of note is that the celebrity transvestite Bobrisky denies the allegation that was put forward, claiming that it was AI-generated clip.

It was Martins Otse, a blogger known on socials as VeryDarkMan, or VDM for short, who had alleged that the viral cross dresser, Idris ‘Bobrisky’ Okuneye played a bad hand by bribing yet to be identified Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officers with a sum of ₦15million so that a money laundering probe by the agency can be dropped, but only the accuser made it to the National Assembly today to attend a lower parliament investigation surrounding the matter.

At the legislative house on Monday 30 September 2024 which was the day fixed by a House of Representatives panel querying all the parties, including the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), VDM was not alone. Expectedly, he arrived at the venue with a legal counsel Mr Deji Adeyanju, but it wasn’t only Mr Otse that social media clips have captured getting out of a sports utility vehicle that conveyed him there.

Before the accuser, dressed in a traditional white garment made it out of the black SUV he employed as transport, a voodoo priest had to first sanctify the environment with a couple of bell clanging and palms cleansing, possibly to pave way for a successful parliament trip, one that witnessed the cross dresser’s obvious absence.

Inside the parliament hall where the panel was sitting, there was further drama still.

Being that the accused was nowhere around the venue, VeryDarkMan initially insisted that if I say anything, let me die. His lawyer reportedly had to persuade him to shelve his stubborn approach and speak about the claim from a leaked Instagram video from last week that claimed Bobrisky had to buy his way out of facing money laundering charges.

Worthy of note is that the celebrity transvestite denies the allegation that was put forward, claiming that it was AI-generated clip. If that is the truth remains to be seen.

A background history of the ongoing panel investigation emanated from Bobrisky’s time in prison for abusing the Naira. Specifically on Friday 5 April 2024, Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos ordered the convict to serve a six-month jail term without the option of a fine although he pleaded for leniency based on being a first-time offender.

The money laundering charges against Okuneye had been dropped to pave way for a shorter time in prison which won’t have been possible had he been convicted of all six counts preferred against him by the EFCC.

Furthermore, it was alleged that the cross dresser had to borrow ₦4million from an associate on 19 June 2024 just to be able to afford the expenses of a favourable time in prison where he reportedly got a special accommodation that inmates normally shouldn’t be entitled to, and this is where Bobrisky’s new problems emerged from.

Having fully served the prison term, there were claims that the transgender socialite apparently still owes. The Instagram clip that brought up the bribery discussion recounted how through the prison officers’ help, likewise EFCC assistance ensured that Idris Okuneye got away with plenty.

After a House of Representatives invitation which he missed reportedly due to illness, it is possible that Bobrisky’s accuser VeryDarkMan himself may face court charges because his revelation had tied the Falana & Falana’s Chambers, owned by the respected human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana (SAN) with complicity.

A letter directed to Martins Otse by the Falana and Falana's Chamber asking him to retract earlier claims connecting human rights lawyer Mr Femi Falana (SAN) to bribery allegations.

This then led to Mr Falana’s daughter issuing an ultimatum to VDM last week that threatened retribution over the stain to her father’s name. It was based on a claim that the latter was connected to the bribes being discussed, which Folake Falana found ridiculous in her comment last week.

Seeing as you have refused to do the needful, #verydarkblackman see you in court, a post defending her dad and brother Falz, partly reads. Today, while appearing before the House of Representative panel, VDM apologised for the mix-up. So, what is next is to wait for a reaction.
