Give it up for the man of the moment and YBNL star act, Ahmed Ololade Asake, aka Asake, “Mr Money” aka “Ololade Mi Asake”.

Asake has debuted another banger for his fandom and fandom to be. The popular afro tempo artist teased his hit single Terminator in July before its eventual release in August. It was rumoured amongst fans that this was a tactic to build anticipation, a tactic which was executed perfectly as the track went viral immediately after its teaser-drop.

Mr Money first broke into the industry with his hit track Lady, which was quite the social media sensation, garnering freestyles from the likes of Sydney Talker, Nastyblaq, Tunde Ednut, Broda Shaggi and a host of other stars. His actual rise to stardom began after being signed to the YBNL record label where he released Mr Money, the hit track responsible for one of his many aliases Mr Money.

Since his release of Omo Ope, a hit track on his debut EP featuring hit maker and father of record label “Yahoo Boy No Laptop” (YBNL) Olamide, Mr Money has dropped a string of powerful tracks while maintaining his relevance in the afrobeats scene.

From Omo Ope to Sungba remix, featuring Grammy award-winning artist Burna Boy to the Dj Spinall mixed Palazzo to Peace Be Unto You (PBUY), Asake has kept listeners worldwide on the edge of their seats.

Terminator was mixed and mastered by Magicstick, a popular hit producer responsible for sounds like I Did It by Niniola, Sungba and Trabaye by Asake, Only Fan by Zlatan and Nobody by Joeboy. He currently has three tracks – Sungba remix, Sungba and Omo Ope, occupying spots 1, 3 and 5, respectively from number 1-5 on Apple Music’s Top 100 Nigeria.

Terminator was worth the wait or so fans say. Similar to his other sounds, the hit single has an upbeat afro tempo but this time with a distinct background piano that adds some refinement to the beat and, of course, staying true to his Yoruba roots, it is infused with a twist of Fuji.

The lyrics are sprinkled with a tad bit of agbero as there is quite a notable usage of street slang, mixed with a little bit of this (love) and a little bit of that (raunchy). It is roughly your typical Nigerian song lyric pattern. It is not that deep but it’s super catchy and will have you dancing in two seconds.

In the hit track, Asake sings to his lover, he highlights her amazing body with sensual lyrics. The chorus goes thus …

Cause you dey amaze

You dey amaze me

Your body amazing

Don’t be late

Don’t keep me waiting

No procrastinating

Terminator

We done get agreement

No terminating

Ngbo na ngbo

Nsuh suh suh na nsuh suh duh

Where he expresses how amazing her body is and how much he cannot wait to have her, stating that they had an agreement and he doesn’t want to be kept waiting or worse, cancelled on.

The hit single arrived with a video directed by TG Omori and it is set to feature on his debut album Mr Money With The Vibe currently slated to drop September 2, 2022. But while we wait, Asake has left listeners with yet another hit track to shake body to.

Terminator is the unique flavour your party playlist needs so go on and give it a listen!
