David Adedeji Adeleke popularly known as Davido is back in the entertainment game after a short hiatus.

His grand return came with amazing accomplishments and the release of his much-talked-about album, Timeless. The 17-track album, which was released on March 31^st, has gained a lot of traction online. Whether you’re a fan of the Afrobeat superstar or not, doesn’t matter. Its release shook the internet and fans have already picked their favourite jams from the album.

The well-known celebrity made history on December 18, 2022, as the first Nigerian artiste to perform on a World Cup stage, alongside Qatari vocalist, Aisha and American singer, Trinidad Cardona. Davido was also listed among the Top 100 Most Influential Africans in 2019 by New African magazine. Over Dem or Over Dem All as it is sung in the lyrics talks about his strength, courage and his biblical namesake, David, who defeated Goliath with just a slingshot. He emphasises God’s love for him and his protection which has been around him since day one in the song. The second verse’s lyrics, If them dey wait make them see me flop, them go wait till thy kingdom come make it very plain to his listeners that adversaries can never knock him out of his top position.

The return of Davido sends a strong signal to his fans and haters that he is back for good. For those who see his setbacks as his weaknesses, he sees them as his biggest strengths. He also subtly referenced the victory of the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke which further buttressed that the track was a victory anthem.

Timeless serves as another evidence of Davido’s enormous fanbase and impact on the Nigerian entertainment industry. His album release caused a huge sensation as it peaked at number one on the U.K. Apple Music Top Albums Chart, hours after its release and it became the second Afrobeat album to achieve this feat. The single, Over Dem, is the ideal way to get back into the game. He has made it his mission to promote new Nigerian talent both domestically and abroad.
