All Queen Ultimate Salon takes us on a journey
to achieving a beautiful you.
By Anita Chinedu
Last weekend, I visited All Queen
Ultimate Salon, a beauty studio in Magboro, Ogun state where I learnt new ways
of enhancing our natural looks, especially for those with oily skin. I shared
my experience with a friend who was anxious to know how this works. Follow the
steps below, and you are on your way to owning your natural look.
Shape your brows: To get a perfect brow, you need to shape out
the extra hairs to get your desired brow shape. “If you want a fuller feathery
brow, then you don’t need to shape off the hair, but brush them upward,” said
Joy, an experienced make-up artist at All Queen Ultimate Salon. She worked on
my brows and the result was a stunning equal brow shape.
Use a setting spray: After cleansing my face, Joy used a Stay Matte Fix & Go Setting Spray to
clean my face. This was quite new and was perfect for my oily skin type. She
also applied a Stay matte primer on my face after the stay Matte fix & go face setting spray had been cleaned and
moisturised. For best results, a formula that is appropriate for your skin type
is advised.
Get the best foundation for your skin colour: Joy used the Avour Foundation to smoothen my
face up to the neck region with a makeup sponge. This helps to cover blemishes
and spots, and gave me a simple natural look. “Go easy on the foundation so
that your make up would still look like skin,” Joy guides.
Conceal the right way: Next, she used in my skin concealer, a shade lighter underneath my eyes, on my
chin, between my nose, and my forehead. This method makes those areas bright
and glow. It also concealed dark eye circle underneath the eyes. Next, she used
a blush to give my face a little colour. Cream blush is trendy right now
because it is simple to build up and produces a flush that looks quite natural.
Avoid too much blush on your face so that you don’t come across looking clownish.
“For a natural make up, less is more,” said Joy.
Apply setting powder: Here, she used a setting powder, and nothing
works better because it guarantees a long-lasting result. Joy disclosed that your
face makeup will be literally set onto your skin by the “invisible”
phase in your makeup regimen known as setting powder. Essentially,
“setting” your makeup means keeping it immaculate for as long as you
can. At this point the makeup was starting to take a little bit of shape but
not completely defined yet. For this step, she lined out my already shaped
eyebrows. My face had started to glow here.
Use a concealer: The LA Girls
concealer was the finishing touch to my eyebrows as it gave it a sharper
and defined look. She used it to veil all the extra brow and line from the eye
pencil and this made my brows pop. She also used a concealer that is my shade
for a more natural look and finishing. She then added an eye shadow from Blossom
USA eye shadow palette. She used the colour ‘suede’ and ‘bubbly’ to get a
perfect shade, although she explained that the choice of colour depends on skin
shade or outfit choice.
Use eyeliner: The eyes are important aspect of your face,
and she made sure to define and bring out my natural eye shape by using the
mabrook eyeliner to define my eye shape, and this brought a lot of glow to my
eyes.
Smooth on Lip-gloss: Because we’re going for a more natural look,
she used a lip gloss because lipstick might be a bit much depending on the colour.
I personally love lipglosses and nudes are my favourites for a more natural
look.
Finish up a Powder: The make up at this point was cooking and looking
nice. But we still had to do the finishing touches and that’s when Vee powder came in! She used a suitable
powder that was exactly my skin shade to give it a natural look, which was used
to smoothen out the skin.
Finishing up with the eyes: My face was sitting pretty at this point and
she finished up with eyelashes extension. This definitely made me look prettier
and gave a more mature look. “The lashes should not be too long and too full if
you’re trying to achieve a more natural look,” said Joy.
Set the make-up: She used the Kiss beauty setting spray to set
the make-up. Joy said this would help the make-up stay longer and fresh all
through the day. Little wonder, hours after the make was done, my face was
still intact. It felt bad cleaning off the make up because it still looked great
even at night. I was surprised my makeup didn’t fade.
Final look: The
make-up sat pretty well on my face, and there wasn’t t too much going on, which
means I can rock this look every day.
