Gospel artist tops YouTube Nigeria 2025 wrap
Gospel hits, Afrobeats chart-toppers, and Nollywood creators dominated screens in YouTube Nigeria’s 2025 wrap
YouTube has confirmed that “No Turning Back II” by gospel artist Gaise Baba featuring Lawrence Oyor is Nigeria’s most-watched music video of 2025. The video racked up 41 million views in six months, collected 397,000 likes, and generated over 22,000 comments, showing that Nigerians embraced the song as one of the year’s standout worship hits.
Afrobeats maintained a strong presence on the charts. Shallipopi’s “Laho” took the second spot, followed by Davido and Omah Lay’s “With You” in third place. The rankings reflect how Nigerian audiences split their attention between gospel and street-driven hits, streaming the songs that mattered most to them this year.
On the creators’ front, Omoni Oboli was named Nigeria’s top creator for 2025, followed by Itelediconstudio (Ibrahim Yekini) and Uchenna Mbunabo TV. These channels attracted millions of views with drama, skits, and short films, proving that YouTube is now the primary place Nigerians go to watch their favourite storytellers.

YouTube’s head of music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Addy Awofisayo, noted that Nigerian content is reaching audiences far beyond the country. 70 percent of total watch time came from international viewers, while watch time on television screens in Nigeria increased by nearly 40 percent, highlighting the shift from phones to larger screens in homes.
According to Awofisayo, YouTube’s growth in Nigeria is rooted in investments in creators through masterclasses, workshops on monetisation, and partnerships with local production companies. These initiatives have helped creators sustain their channels while reaching both local and international audiences.
The 2025 YouTube wrap shows clearly what Nigerians spent their time streaming this year. From Gaise Baba’s viral gospel hit to Afrobeats favourites and Nollywood creators dominating channels, the numbers reveal which videos captured attention, inspired conversation, and shaped online entertainment.
