Our client is a financial services company and operates from its head office in Lagos. In line with the desire to ensure that key roles are filled by the best talents, the Company seeks to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of Group Managing Director (GMD)
Location: The primary base will be Lagos, Nigeria, but the candidate must be available to travel to the various business locations even at short notice.
Reporting Line: The Board of Directors
Jon Summary:
The Group Managing Director will oversee operations, drive strategic initiatives, and align with organisational goals. The GMD’s focus will be on growth, operational efficiency, risk management, and financial results, while also shaping the company’s long-term vision.
Key Responsibilities:
· Directs and oversees the business’s overall strategic direction, developing high-quality business strategies and plans that align with both their short-term and long-term objectives
· Provide inspired leadership to the senior management team and company-wide.
· Makes high-level decisions about policy and strategy, with the approval of the Board of Directors.
· Reports to the board of directors and keeps them informed of business updates.
· Develop and implement operational policies and a strategic plan.
· Develop the company’s culture and work environment to support the overall company vision.
· Helps with recruiting new staff members at senior level when necessary.
· Creates an environment that promotes great performance and positive morale.
· Oversees the company’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing.
· Assures that all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitors compliance with laws and regulations.
· Works with the Board of Directors to determine values and mission, and plans for short and long-term goals.
· Identifies and addresses problems and opportunities for the company.
· Builds alliances and partnerships with other relevant organizations.
· Oversees the day-to-day operation of the company.
Liaises with the various company stakeholders – shareholders, staff, regulators, government agencies, clients and customers to ensure smooth operations and effective achievement of corporate objectives.
Qualifications and Skills:
To be successful in this role, the holder must possess:
· Bachelor’s degrees in Finance, Economics, Engineering or any other Management Science course.
· Master’s degree and (or) relevant professional qualifications will prove to be an advantage.
· Minimum 12 years work experience with at least 5 years at Top Management level
· Must have leadership skills, strategic vision and a good network.
· Excellent analytical and communication skills.
