Should all the preparation go according to plan, incredibly vibrant Lagosians might find the American rapper, Kanye West in their city, maybe two weeks away from Christmas.

Even if December is a long time, Ye has been readying his gear and building momentum for the possibility of hitting Lagos. The idea is only tentative but if it goes as planned, it would be part of a list of global tour venues the rapper has mapped out to visit between this year and the next.

On Kanye West’s Instagram on Wednesday, 7 February, one of the batches of screenshots displayed showed the Eko Energy City on a spreadsheet. Here is 250,000 square metres of newly reclaimed land in the north-west corner of Eko Atlantic City where the multinational companies are based.

The screenshots, which were an excerpt from a conversation about the routing of his anticipated music tour had Lagos featured as the only West African destination included. Other locations in Africa on Ye’s list are Kenya in East Africa, and then Egypt in the northern part of the continent.

Eko Energy City as the spot marked for the Kanye West concert is a pointer to all that is good about Nigeria and its real estate. The energy city is stationed at the exceptionally luxurious Eko Atlantic, no wonder Kanye West is considering heading down there.

All the signs so far have revealed Lagos in a transition to becoming one of the most visited places on earth soon enough.

The ongoing infrastructure drive in the megacity, particularly the construction of railroads is certainly speeding things up and making it an agreeable choice for global superstars.
