About the role

We seek a dynamic and in-the-know Community Manager to support daily community engagements and content updates while serving as evangelists at key events and conferences.

The Community Manager will serve as liaison and evangelist for AltSchool Africa students and the prospective student community. The ideal candidate is expected to be well-connected to the student community and actively represent AltSchool for all things related to our programs and learning experience. The ideal candidate must love people, have empathy, and be passionate about education in Africa.

In addition, the Community Manager will be the primary content curator for the Slack community, including daily monitoring, supervision, and moderation of all content and community inquiries. They will work with the Growth team to create and manage any associated newsletters, promotional and explainer videos, and the Product team to gather feedback, work on product iteration, and assist with relevant communications. As the community manager, you will:

  • Work with stakeholders to execute program plans for a great learning experience
  • Initiate and implement community engagement activities for a strong brand perception awareness and acceptance
  • Represent the company at relevant tech or non-tech events, pitching for product market launch
  • Establish working relationships with key community partners
  • Serve as “evangelist” & “ambassador” for the AltSchool brand, embedded in the community and promoting positive awareness
  • Respond to comments, queries and resolve member issues, and escalate when necessary
  • Monitor and report on feedback and reviews for better decision-making and program/product improvement
  • Communicate new product feature releases, and program updates to community member
