Job Description:
Codebar Lagos is actively seeking a passionate and experienced Tech Community Manager to support our mission and cultivate a vibrant and inclusive tech community in Lagos, Nigeria. This volunteer position requires a commitment of 10-15 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Codebar Lagos team to develop and execute community engagement strategies, both online and offline.
Build and nurture relationships with community members, mentors, volunteers, and partner organizations.
Organize and coordinate regular workshops, meetups, and other events to facilitate knowledge sharing and networking opportunities.
Monitor and moderate the online community platforms, such as Slack and social media channels, to ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
Provide guidance and support to community members, answering questions, and addressing concerns or issues promptly.
Assist in recruiting and onboarding new mentors, volunteers, and participants.
Collect and analyze feedback from community members to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate solutions.
Contribute to the promotion and marketing of Codebar Lagos events and initiatives to attract a diverse range of participants.
Collaborate with the codebar.io team to align local efforts with the organization’s global goals and strategies.
Requirements:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a software developer.
Proven experience in community management, preferably in a tech-related organization.
Resides in Lagos, Nigeria, and has a deep understanding of the local tech community.
A recent graduate or currently enrolled as a university student, pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
Familiarity with online community platforms, social media, and event management tools.
Passionate about diversity, inclusion, and promoting opportunities in the tech industry.
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
