Startup Lagos aims to drive growth in Africa’s tech ecosystem by providing easy access to news and opportunities, encouraging startup-to-startup collaboration, and co-creating solutions to challenges within the African tech space. We work closely with research institutions and other organizations to highlight the innovative research being done across the continent.
Role Description
This is a full-time, hybrid role located in Lagos, with flexibility for some remote work. As a Journalist for Startup Lagos, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and producing news articles related to the African tech space. You will also be required to attend events, conduct interviews, and build strong relationships within the African tech community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in journalism, preferably focused on technology or startups
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to write and produce content quickly and accurately, with tight deadlines
- Demonstrated knowledge of the African tech ecosystem and major players within it
- Experience with multimedia journalism, such as podcasts or videos, is a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English is required, proficiency in at least one other African language is a plus
