Overview of your role
As the Account Officer, you will keep up-to-date account records, ensure smooth transactions with clients, prepare payroll and related documents and general financial management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Managing Whispa’s payables and receivables
2. Maintain records of business costs and check invoices for inaccuracies in reporting
3. Prepare financial statements and any other basic accounting functions for the company.
4. Payment processing for internal and external stakeholders (staff salaries, suppliers etc.)
5. Update internal accounting database and spreadsheets.
6. Process refunds for clients and follow up on invoices that are past due.
7. Periodic and timely reporting on the state of financial affairs of the company
8. Engage with the regulators including tax authorities and ensure compliance.
9. Budgeting and budget tracking to ensure financial efficiency.
10. Coordinate with 3rd party and other financial service providers including auditors and financial institutions.
11. Any other relevant duty that may be assigned to you from time to time.
Requirement and Skills
1. Proven work experience as an accountant
2. Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, and financial reporting
3. Hands-on experience with accounting software-QuickBooks
4. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel with solid financial data entry skills, data analysis and reporting
5. Outstanding communication, team bonding and interpersonal skills
6. BSc degree in Management, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other related disciplines
7. ICAN or ACCA-qualified accountant
8. Ability to be organized and self-motivated.
9. Be honest and trust-worthy
10. Be based in Lagos
Other details
This position is a 9am to 5pm role and currently comes with the opportunity to work remotely. Therefore, this role requires that you have an ideal location to work in and access to a personal computer, internet access and a smartphone when you commence the job. Furthermore, you should note that this role can become a hybrid or in-person work position in the future.
This role will report directly to the CEO. We will be happy to provide additional support to make the delivery of your duties easy where possible.
Remuneration:
N100,000 to N150,000 net/month based on experience
