Naira Marley makes a cocky backseat comeback on Tik-Tok
The record label executive Naira Marley before returning to the public space had been in police custody over the death of a former signee, Mohbad, who he allegedly bullied.
Looking back up to three months, getting on Tik-Tok would have been difficult for the Afrobeats musician Azeez ‘Naira Marley’ Fashola. He had been caught up in difficult legal issues which caused him to be held in police custody for 21 days and also deprived him of social media action.
His incarceration was because he had been listed among five prime suspects that are linked with the demise of a singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba ‘Mohbad’ who died on Tuesday, 12 September.
Luckily, a Magistrate Judge, Adeola Olatunbosun of the Yaba Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 6 November 2023, granted him bail in the sum of ₦20 million, which gave him room to pop up in a Tik-Tok video alongside a co-defendant or associate Sam Larry whose government name is Balogun Olamilekan Eletu and was seen to be making most of the moments recorded in the clip.

The pair were shown strolling around a neighbourhood with another musician Zinoleesky. In the clip, a police unit mobilised ahead of the vehicle they all travelled in as if escorting them to a destination. A different scene in the clip revealed the trio cramped in the backseat yet they still had fun.
Naira Marley’s bail grant in early November happened 34 days after the label exec announced his police surrender so as to help out with investigations into Mohbad’s death.
The reason for his fingering in the whole affair was because he had reportedly nurtured a toxic working relationship with the deceased when he was a signee at Marlian Music World owned by Naira Marley.
Three other suspects identified in a police investigation into Mohbad’s death included two childhood acquaintances and a quack nurse who administered injections to him when he sustained an after-concert injury.
