Naira Marley’s supporters attacking Ruggedman comes back to haunt him
Back in June 2019, Ruggedman cautioned former UK-based Naira Marley over his immoral justification of ‘Yahoo Yahoo’.
The roof keeps falling down on Naira Marley over his past deeds. This time, it is an old clip resurfacing showing his supporters’ assault on the rapper, Ruggedman while visiting a restaurant in London around June 2019.
Why was Ruggedman attacked? Two months prior to the assault, the rapper had cautioned Naira Marley who was formerly based in the United Kingdom, over his immoral justification of cybercrime known as ‘Yahoo Yahoo’. It happened at a time when many Nigerian youths openly engaged in the act, preying mostly on the residents in the Western part of the world.
According to Ruggedman in a direct message to Naira Marley on social media, encouraging such behaviour is to the detriment of Nigeria’s youthful population that was seeking opportunities abroad. Many had been denied access to foreign destinations where they hoped to live to start a better life because of the negative perception that had been created about Nigeria by fraudsters.
Here is what the message partly reads:
“My brother, I love your music and all but you need to get one thing clear and do not mislead people. Especially kids on social media.
“You can do Yahoo all you want, but do not disrespect the part of the black race that was sold into slavery by trying to use it to justify cybercrime. The people who bought slaves died ages ago. If you want to fight that, then start a cause/movement against the British and America.”
The consequence of this frank talk from Ruggedman was a massively violent attack by four hooded men. This saw the rapper scampering out of the restaurant when the quartet gave chase. The presence of a London police officer at the scene thankfully saved him.

Before the attack on Ruggedman occurred, Naira Marley, responding to the criticism via his Instagram had called the rapper a “moron”, hinting at his displeasure.
Now back to a more recent event that has continually dragged Naira Marley to the news headlines. It is related to the struggle of Afrobeats singer, Mohbad, when he was alive. The late musician who passed away on Tuesday, September 12, also suffered mental and physical assault by Naira Marley’s crew, which made him consider committing suicide.
Mohbad’s issues fully began when he decided to leave Marlian Records World in 2022, owned by Naira Marley. The reason for this was reportedly over royalties concerns.
Since Mohbad’s death, top musicians and fans have called on the Nigeria Police Force to arrest the entire Marlian crew in order to investigate Mohbad’s mistreatment.
