Nigerian Idol edging towards its 9th Season and it is asking for dream-worthy submissions
Contestants on the show are familiar with the role of judges in deciding their fate and longevity in the competition through the casting of their votes for or against a performance.
The audience couldn’t wait for it to be back and so the long wait is over due to the commencement of the online registration of the ninth season of Nigerian Idol.
There would be a window for registrants to type in their entries starting 19 January, to 29.
Pending when all the participants would be gathered, those who keenly follow the long-running musical talent show oftentimes hosted by I.K Osakioduwu can expect the contest to run for 12 weeks. The crux of the whole rush is the finale, which is set for 14 July.
Nigerian Idol season 9 entry is open to both males and females aged 16 – 28 years of Nigerian nationality. Before they can get in, they must endeavour to gel with the theme of this latest season and that’s titled “Dare to Dream”.
Here is how the participants can apply their voices to realise any dream they have relating to transforming from the level of a budding household or bar singer, to becoming one challenging for spots on music charts.
You are to begin by filling out a form, which requires uploading a 30-second video you’ve recorded of yourself onto MultiChoice’s website. That is the page that is reserved for those who seek to aim for a spot.

An instruction via MultiChoice’s website goes like this:
“Please fill in your personal details so that we can contact you should your audition be successful.
“Then upload your singing audition. (please have this ready before completing the form)
“Your audition video should not be longer than 30 seconds, so [choose] the part of your song that best shows off your voice.”
What is left now for the aspiring auditioners is to rely on luck and hope their submissions are good enough to be among the final contestants. It might just be 10 entries that make it to the front of the judges and hope they find their tune appealing for the period that the Nigerian Idol will be aired on TV.
The last edition of the Nigerian Idol was won by Victory Gbakara, who went home with ₦100million grand prize. His stash also included a ₦35million cash prize, car and recording contract. It is all about “enabling young talents to actualise their dreams and delivering premium entertainment to our audience”, says MultiChoice’s Executive Head of Content and Channels West Africa, Dr. Busola Tejumola.
Since the Nigerian Idol started, it has seen the likes of second season victorian, Mercy Chinwo, although Timi Dakolo emerged as the winner of the inaugural West Africa Idol competition.
