Job Summary

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Head of Finance. The Head of Finance will be responsible for overseeing and managing financial operations, developing and implementing financial policies, producing financial reports, and providing strategic financial advice to the management team. This is a hybrid role, and the candidate is expected to work both from our office in Lekki and remotely as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies, plans, and policies to drive the financial success of the microfinance bank.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial forecasts and budgets, monitor financial performance, and provide regular reports to the management team.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international financial reporting standards.
  • Present financial reports to the board of directors and other stakeholders, highlighting critical financial metrics and
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and assess financial risks, recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and ensure the company’s compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity to meet the company’s operational needs and obligations.
  • Optimize investment strategies and manage relationships with financial institutions.
  • Ensure effective management of loans, investments, and other financial assets.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to provide financial insights and support their initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, auditors, and financial institutions.

Qualifications & Relevant Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, ICAN, or CFA) is highly desirable.
  • Proven finance experience of 8-10 years in a senior finance role.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Financial Statements, Financial Reporting, and Budgeting skills
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Ability to manage financial operations and develop and implement financial policies
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAGE, SAP, etc.
