Finesse is an effortlessly cool and endlessly catchy song produced by Pheelz, who also adds his vocals to the track. Pheelz is one of Nigeria’s premier producers who has worked with the likes of Tiwa Savage, Olamide, and Fireboy DML.
While he’s usually behind the scenes, he took the spotlight in this single, featuring steady beat maker BNXN, formerly known as Buju, who added a bit of, shall we say, finesse, to this song. He uses all his producing skills to flow on this sleek beat peppered with solid guitar work and percussions, and a chorus that sounds like pure joy.
The chorus is what makes Finesse stand out. It sounds like a refined kegkite anthem followed by instrumentals that sound like they were done by a crowd of boys vibing in any university hostel. There’s fun there mixed with easily singable lyrics. The spirit of the song itself is very Nigerian because it mirrors the Nigerian spirit of, “if we die, we die.”
Pheelz is an excellent producer but we rarely get to experience his vocal prowess. Of his body of work, this single is definitely high up in terms of commercial appeal. Finesse is highly recommended.
