A video surfacing online has pictured the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, as he brisked through a police deployment of tear gas and water bombs while visiting the Rivers State Assembly Complex in Port Harcourt.
The glowing image of the governor in pure plain white oddly differentiated him from every member of his entourage including police officers. However, it was their colleagues who were discharging all the obstruction that came Mr Fubara’s way.
Although the reason was not disclosed, some Rivers State House of Assembly members had planned to impeach the governor today and that has created hostile reactions from those who do not like the idea. There were reports on Sunday night of an explosion at the complex over the weekend that resulted in a fire being put out by servicemen.
These events have led to the chaos that has been noticed starting the new week but it has not stopped the impeachment process from getting under way. Already, a Edison Ehie who is known as the Leader of the House has been suspended because he is believed to be loyal to the governor.

More discoveries confirm that only a group of 23 parliamentarians were available at the legislative session where Siminalayi Fubara is reportedly to be removed. All these events have unwrapped conversations around godfatherism with the showdown of the parties happening between the former Rivers State chief executive, Nyesom Wike who is now a federal minister and the incumbent.
For the latter, while trouble may still persist, there is hope in a vibrant, supportive youth base. Governor Fubara, having passed through hurdles to making it back was speaking at his Brick House official residence about his challenges. He said: “We (woke) up this morning with a very troubling news.
“We have gone to the assembly to see for ourselves what has happened. On my way there, I was shot at directly by the OC Operation, or DC; whatever they call him. But it doesn’t matter (because) somebody will die one way or the other.”
In addition to being resolute and accepting of his situation, Governor Fubara is seeking answers. Somehow, somewhere, he believes the cloak will be unveiled and he would start to know the basis of an attempt to impeach him five months into his administration.
