Temptations from other women can make staying married to one’s wife a strenuous endeavour but Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) knows a way around this through his proven hacks.
Chatting with his “Diamond Ring” on-screen son, Teju Babyface, who is a well-known host on the Deep Dive podcast, 62-year-old RMD thinks it all begins with assuming the image of a general approaching a battle. One slip-up on the flank has the potential to expose one to lots of vulnerability.
This is the reason why the actor would usually keep away from clubbing for instance unless work or any other social obligation demands that he must. In such cases, he makes sure he literally has his armour on to repel any Delilah lurking in the distance.
“Women are like Jezebel, they are like Delilah,” according to RMD, who sums up that part of their intention “is to constantly aim at the image of God or the symbol of authority at any time.”
So, how can this obstacle be evaded? It happens through fortification and a decisive approach like the way that charismatic warriors handle their business.
“It’s like being a general, says RMD who is also picturing “being a commander in a battlefield” to ensure a man’s survival.
“You drop and the battalion scatters. It is very difficult, you have to get to a point where your wife understands what she is up against as well because if she is not up to speed or up to date on what she is up against then your flanks are open.
The conversation with the host then went on to how RMD lives away from scandals that most celebrities can’t do without. Once again, the actor’s response touched on training and discipline.
“I don’t go to clubs unless I am entertaining people from out of town or if I have work. If I go, it means I have my flanks protected and I’m sure I’d leave there unscathed no matter what happens.”
Protecting RMD’s flanks doesn’t just happen – he is able to achieve this through his inner circle. That is simple, ordinary folks who have his back.
Self-grooming and years of experience are important elements that have made Richard Mofe-Damijo this chest of knowledge that other men can learn from. The actor has been married to his wife, former broadcaster Jumobi Adegbesan, since December 29, 2000, although that wasn’t his first marriage.
He is known to have been previously hitched to another journalist, May Ellen ‘MEE’ Ezekiel, but the pair were sadly separated through death that came about when the latter had to undergo a fibroid removal surgical operation.
