The month of March, it seems, is a favourable one for the nation as more and more Nigerians continue to attract global accolades to the country. This week has been a winning streak as global awards and recognitions were received by Nigerians.
Melody Okwuazu, a Nigerian entrepreneur projected Nigeria to the global stage after emerging as the winner of the Outstanding Entrepreneur Missionary Award at the United Kingdom Investors Summit 2023. The Investor Award, which supports entrepreneurs in creating their own business ecosystem in the United Kingdom, including 193 UN Nations with 193 Countries Consortium, held on March 24, 2023. The Summit also saw the gathering of global business leaders from several industrial sectors for the sole aim of facilitating networking and fostering businesses. This award ceremony was a flagship segment of the event, which seeks to enable local brands’ easy access to the global market.
It is noteworthy that the UK Summit Award recognises and honours several companies from a diverse range of industries, and Nigeria’s Melody Okwuazu was one of the distinguished awardees.
The award organisers, in its statement, disclosed that the award was a celebration of Okwuazu’s entrepreneurial and philanthropic achievements in the areas of youth development and start-ups mentorship, coaching, empowerment and grant disbursement in Nigeria and Africa. It also acknowledged the impressive contributions of Okwuazu in 2023, adding that his mentorship of over 5,000 individuals, support of more than 100 new businesses and awards of academic scholarships to 20 people, is worthy of recognition. ‘As a result of these accomplishments, Okwuazu was awarded the distinguished Outstanding Entrepreneur Missionary Award, which is highly inspiring,’ it stated.
