Unintentional: A Review of a romance movie

Unintentional is a movie that will catch the fancy of the viewer at any time. The thrilling and emotionally charged movie warms its way to the heart of the viewers through its themes of love, suspense, and fate.

Written by Zeina Otongo and directed by Bola Atta, the movie typifies a situation where romance is unintentionally created and almost immediately lost to a communication breakdown between two lovebirds, Uzor and Sefi. The one-hour fifty-five minutes movie deftly deploys the creative use of sustained suspense infused with amazing visuals to arrest the viewing audience.

Starring delectable Kate Henshaw, Beverly Osu, Mike Uchegbu, and the easy-to-love Efa Iwara, the director portrays fast-rising actress, Omowunmi Dada as the protagonist as she effortlessly brings to life the character, Sefi.

Sefi’s sun appears to have set when her ex, Ladi, (Tobi Bakre), proposed to another lady right under her nose. Dejected, she didn’t think twice before she resolved to move on and have a fresh start. As fate would have it, she was awakened to the news of her National Youth Service Corps’ service posting to Imo State, a development she finds heartwarming as it presented the perfect opportunity for a change of scene. Accompanied by her friend Rosie, they embark on a road trip, where an unexpected breakdown of their vehicle, a few kilometres from Edo State, was incidental to a fated whirlwind romance with Uzor (Efa).

While the movie revolves around themes of love and fate, the producer introduces humour in the multiple personalities of a manager, receptionist, and porter, played by Frank Udonga, which portrays the struggle of budding businesses. A perfect ending would be the kissing scene between Sefi and Uzor. However, it was almost marred by the audio quality which made it difficult to grasp the full quote by Sefi.
