Will Flawsome in its second season make room for a women’s quartet to escape patriarchy for good?

The ever-attentive viewers of the show would remember the life of best friends Ivie, Dolapo, Ifeyinwa, and Ramat being so tight-knit.

Flawsome is an original drama series produced by Showmax that is diving into the lives of four women, through a personal and professional prism. It is ready to commence its second season.

On Monday 22 January, Showmax announced that their new work will premiere two days before the Valentine’s Day celebration and the audience can catch the show on their revamped streaming app.

Already on Showmax, there is word that Season 2’s pilot episode will be coming on 9 February and the actresses Bisola Aiyeola, Sharon Ooja, Ini Idima-Okoje and Enado Odigie are expected to continue their climb up the ladder of 21st-century womanhood.

The ever-attentive viewers of the show would remember the life of best friends Ivie, Dolapo, Ifeyinwa, and Ramat being so tight-knit. Ivie is a fashion enthusiast carrying the hope of success, and next is Dolapo thriving as a PR expert.

In Flawsome, their hope intertwines with other friends, Ifeyinwa nursing corporate responsibility dreams after the passing of her father, while Ramat is mirrored as a charitable humanitarian reshaping the world to accommodate women and children to blossom.

Reflecting on how much of an upgrade Season 2 will be, the Director and Executive Producer, Tola Odunsi, said: “If I were to sum up this season in one word, it’s ‘better’. The journey we’ve embarked on and the narrative we’re crafting is nothing short of magical. We’re telling a story that resonates deeply, especially with women, and the ability to connect with our audience in such a meaningful way is truly magical.”

To measure the impact of Flawless in its first season, hover a lens on the five nominations it received at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. That included the Best Television Series category, among others.

Also, Ini-Dima Okojie (Rahmat) and Enado Odigie (Dolapo) were nominated for Best Actress in a Drama, Movie or TV Series. The inclusion of Dami Elebe as head writer for the second season is mostly only going to prop up Flawsome’s reputation for any subsequent award or nomination. That is attributed to Elebe’s well-rounded experience as a screenwriter.

She is renowned for building up emotion in the likes of Skinny Girl in Transit, The Men’s Club and Far From Home, all that only an exceptional writer can achieve.

Returning to the Flawsome screen for the new season are Gabriel Afolayan, John Dumelo, Iretiola Doyle, Toyin Abraham and Chris Attoh.
