The long-anticipated BBN evictions finally took place yesterday. We witnessed some emotional moments in the house with the tension-soaked evictions drawing tears from some of the housemates. The uncertainty about who goes home must have made everyone nervous. But the show had to go on.

Just before the evictions, Biggie instructed the level 2 housemates to move to the lounge. After they had assembled, he addressed Beauty’s unruly behaviour the day before. He aired the video and announced her disqualification, to the shock of the other Housemates. Beauty seemed emotional but viewers thought it served her right.

Her act at the last party was a typical case of lack of self-control to the point of becoming violent, an act that attracts two strikes. This increased the number of strikes to three; now she’s home in just two weeks. That is, she broke the record of Tacha and Erica in the previous seasons.

In another twist yesterday, Biggie introduced two new ‘rider’ housemates to the house. According to Ebuka, these two new housemates would be in the house till the end and they can’t be evicted even when they are nominated but they won’t also win. While the level 2 housemates received the guy, Chizzy with enthusiasm, level 1 housemates were a bit awkward towards Rachel. Perhaps, this caught them unawares. I must admit that these surprises were somewhat weird.

And just when we thought it was over, Ebuka went back to the level 2 housemates. Next, the bombshell dropped and Christy O became the first housemate to be evicted from Big Brother Naija season 7, followed by Cyph, which was to the amazement of many people. From the fans’ comments, people were not really surprised by Christy O’s eviction, but many viewers and fans were pained about Cyph’s. He only just reconciled with Doyin. The thought of their separation might cause her heart to ache when she finds out. Just like we saw Groovy having a tough time after his ally got disqualified. Everyone felt he needed an emotional cleansing after dealing with a toxic partner. In fact, Beauty was considered the most toxic housemate ever on the show. She had it coming.

Meanwhile, the eviction show featured Young John, the producer turned artiste. His signature white outfit was exclusive and beautiful, just like his performance. He performed his recent hit song Dada, with the crowd singing along to the lit chorus. He literally kept the show alive last night. Meanwhile, a new co-host, MizVick joined Ebuka on the show. It was really nice to know that she would be around till the end of the show.

Some fans insisted that this was the most headstrong set of Big Brother Naija housemates. The first to refuse the interview after their evictions. While Christy O turned down the interview, Cyph told Big Brother that he would wait till the end of the show to see what happens with him and Doyin. We hope she waits too.

On the other hand, Beauty’s controversial behaviour and disqualification got the internet buzzing. The algorithms showed that she was the most talked about housemate on the show this season with about 2.8 million people talking about her. We look forward to the Head of House games and more exciting drama unfolding this week. Keep streaming!
