Job description

An upmarket real estate development company, specializing in the development of residential and commercial properties is looking for an accountant to collect, analyse, record and report the financial data of the company.

The ideal candidate will be well-organized and comfortable dealing with financial data. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable and receivable, preparing financial reports, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns and conducting other tasks related to finance. They should be excellent at recording data and have the ability to produce clear financial reports.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintaining company Accounts using suitable accounting software
  • Handle all accounts payable and receivable on a daily basis to make sure each invoice and expense report is accurate
  • Prepare budgeting, expenditure forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies, facilitating smooth audits and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct financial analysis and performance evaluations of properties
  • Recording and evaluating accruals and depreciation on fixed assets of clients
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial information
  • Provisioning and accrual for unpaid invoices
  • Reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts i.e. Payables and Receivables
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.
  • Provide regular financial statements and reports
  • Prepare annual returns and provide technical support and advice on Management Accountant.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • ICAN/ACCA Certification will be an added advantage
  • Ability to interpret and analyse financial statements and periodicals
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Expert in using “QuickBooks” and other similar accounting software
  • Good experience in Accounting, Taxation or Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Good knowledge of Accounting Reconciliation Procedures, Invoicing & Payments, Financial Due Diligence, Accruals Management & Financial Reporting
  • Good communication, analytical, and presentation skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience preferably in the real estate industry
