Housemates go creative as the race for bounty deepens

Day 6

Today’s diary of BBNaija Level Up starts with the housemates in a scurry move to outdo one another as they slug it out during their wager task and presentation of the anthem. It appears the housemates had so much fun from the rehearsals up until their stage presentation. The Housemates, audience, and even Biggie can testify to how entertaining their show was.

Aside from the ‘ships’, fights, and friendships, we saw a level of creativity that portrays BBNaija as a peerless platform that appreciates and showcases individual talents. In this vein, we see the trenches housemates put all their energy into their drama and anthem show. Meanwhile, the Level One ‘Island’ housemates gave a well-organised presentation with less noise while the counterpart in the Level Two won the wager task. Level One’s organisation leaves much to be desired as it doesn’t come across as a metric for winning the game.

Phyna, the energy queen, brought her swag and ginger to play in their anthem. Though it’s hard to tell how those are anthems if they can’t remember nor sing them word for word today. Who uses a rap freestyle for an anthem? It is called an ‘anthem’ for a reason. Giddyfia did a really great job for level one with his show presenter skills. Though, Bella’s fashion show and Sheggz’s UK rap were mid-too wordy with very little enthralling content.

We must appreciate Hermes’ artistic skills too. His act with Chomzy and ChiChi was captivating and enjoyable. On other grounds, that would pass for an exclusive theatrical performance. From the beating of the drums to the playing of the guitar and the eloquent use of words, we experienced bliss with that superlative performance and it’s good to see.

Nevertheless, we can’t help but notice the lack of the spirit of sportsmanship from housemates on both levels. Though housemates must not necessarily support the display of their competition, it is not a rivalry. We clearly noticed the mouth-pushing, shoulder-shrugging, and feet-dragging attitudes portrayed by one level unto the other. In fact, Phyna must sit tight as nominations will be really tough following her vibe and exquisite act. She is definitely a threat at this point.

These attitudes do not end during the game. The competition is unhealthy and all housemates have returned to their lounges to either express anger or talk down on those on the other level. This is rather than taking their losses or gains and prioritising a winning strategy upfront.

On a lighter note, ‘trenches’ for life! That hype by Phyna gave us the exact energy we deserved from the housemates. UK accents and gossip don’t win tasks obviously. Bella suggests that they have lost because of their focus on the ships and I couldn’t agree less. I’m not a preacher of love so I concur that love and focus do not go hand in hand.

Fans commend the ‘trenches’ for staying true and open to each other. Conversely, the islanders come under fire for engaging in too much gossip about their fellow people. Perhaps, these contrasting attitudes give an insight into why level Two had a better performance.

Earlier in the day, we hear Bella tell her boo, Sheggz that other housemates are jealous and want to break their relationship. Her reason is that “they see the princess treatment and can’t have it”. Who else thinks this ship is only superficial, thriving on forehead kisses and public displays of affection? On the flip side, her comment about the islanders losing focus because of the ships was probably a loud self-reflection.

We can’t wait to see if the focus will prevail over ‘body gumming body’, especially in the BellZ ship.
