Oladips’ 3-day death wasn’t a stunt based on insider’s explanation

Catching up with the rapper’s life is to witness sheer will and a determination to succeed. Fans missing him when they thought Oladips had died gives a hint about the sort of impact he had been making.

What has been happening around the rapper, Oladipupo Oladimeji known as Oladips since his management announced his death on 15 November has been nothing short of damage limitations.

This had to become the situation due to his mysterious resurrection three days after the announcement. It was just in time to promote a new album he just dropped titled “SUPERHERO ÀDÚGBÒ (The Memoir)”. Stories about the 28-year-old musician’s passing due to prolonged ailments he was nursing in secrecy certainly made headlines with the BBC gathering tributes directed to him in its bulletin.

“We are saddened to inform the general public that Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, aka Oladips, passed away yesterday, November 14, Tuesday evening, at exactly 10:14 pm. We are still in shock as we speak!” reads the statement by the management.

The statement added that “for over two years, he has kept his battles within himself; his body is now with his family. The family asked that we respect their privacy in this trying time. May God give us all the fortitude to bear this great loss. (amen)”.

Part of the mourning that followed the statement came from a fan who pictured Oladips’ storytelling rap as one that is top-notch. So, there was a lot of disappointment when the tales that came after his reappearance didn’t match what the mourners were expecting in the form of an explanation. Instead, they saw unjustifiable tantrums that the rapper had directed to some associates including one identified as Qdot for misinformation about his short-lived death.

Now, a new voice has provided further readings on the topic and that is Oladips’ assistant, whom Punch News identified as Abdulrasheed Opeyemi.

Since the general expectations had been that the manager who announced his demise ought to be the one getting the stick for the mix-up, the aide then confirmed that there had been a sack and soon enough, the rapper would provide deeper clarity on the matter.

“I don’t know how to say this. It was a misinterpretation [by] the manager who has access to Oladips’ page,” says Opeyemi, the aide.

He also added that “we all thought he was dead because he was not breathing until the third day when he was revived. By then, the manager had already shared the story.”

The aide recalled his inability to reach the rapper and so equally believed he had died. All through the period when access was limited, Oladips was with his family. And as soon as the dust cleared up a bit came the axing of “the manager who shared the story”.

Catching up with the rapper’s life is to witness sheer will and a determination to succeed. Fans missing him when they thought he had died gives a hint about his impact. They remember some of his successes right from the early start. That included emerging among the top three in a 2015 “The King is Here” rap contest launched by the singer, D’banj.

Other flashes showed Oladips featuring the veteran rapper and actor, Reminisce in the song ‘Lalakukulala’. He was signed to the latter’s LRR Records for a minute but the common record label-artiste mess ensured that the relationship was a short stint. Oladips then went on to start his own platform, Dipsciples Music where he has been grooming his career until the recent death stunt blip found him.
