Looks like Muhammed Sanusi II return as Emir of Kano is so close
When Muhammed Sanusi II was banished from his post, hence from Kano, it opened room for Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to hand over duties to the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero on Saturday 3 July 2021.

Going back to 9 March 2020 is revisiting a Monday where workers were hoping for a good start and to wrap off a good week. That orderliness they sought at the time happened to have eluded the former Emir of Kano Muhammed Sanusi II because it was on this day that he confirmed himself deposed from office following a Kano State Executive Council resolution, although now there is a possibility of him making a return.
A stellar life as a banker had preceded royal Sanusi II before he became the 14th Emir of Kano in June 2014. As the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), he pursued monetary policies that were mixed with conscience until he was relieved from his role through a suspension order given by the President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan four months before he ascended the throne.
The reason for Muhammed Sanusi’s suspension was linked to the reckless handling of the economy, although there were suspicions about him being silenced. After six years as the Emir of Kano, once again he clashed with his superior and was soon removed and exiled to Nassarawa State.

Since then, the deposed Emir has sort of remained mute throughout the years until news about heading back to his traditional ruler post started making the rounds.
Now, it seems like whispers but there is solid ground for the former Emir to make a return. This possibility gains its roots from an Amendment Bill that was sponsored two days ago by the Majority Leader of the Kano State House of Assembly, Lawan Hussaini Chediyar Yan Gurasa.
The move sought to retweak the Kano State Emirs (Appointment and Deposition) Law of 2019 that encouraged breaking down the Kano Emirate into chunks of five heads and their council, to revert to the former structure where there was just one officer, an Emir manning all the spots as a central authority through his numerous subsidiaries, meaning towns and villages. The Kano Emirates Council Law (repeal bill) 2024 will be acting as a replacement for the foreseeable future.
When Muhammed Sanusi II was banished from his post, hence from Kano, it opened room for Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to hand over duties to the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero on Saturday 3 July 2021 when he was presented with a staff of office.
That has all changed with Honourable Lawan Hussaini Chediyar Yan Gurasa sharing this with reporters: the bill has been sent to the governor for assent, now there is no longer an active Emir in Kano in all the five Emirates; Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye.
According to the lawmaker, the law now allows the governor to call on the traditional kingmakers to choose a new king. Most likely the new king is Muhammed Sanusi II and he would have the rare profile of succeeding the Emir who earlier succeeded him.
Today, it looks like former governor Ganduje’s influence has been made impermanent.
The current Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had made past comments about the Emirate returning to its over 1,000 years old structure. Now all looks in motion.
